Kia EV4 is Kia's latest electric car and sits in the popular C-segment as a fastback — or halvkombi as it's called in Swedish. Elbilsmagasinet has test-driven the car on a long route around Lake Vättern, and we summarise everything you need to know about prices, range, trim levels and how the EV4 stacks up against the competition.

Four versions from SEK 476,900

Kia EV4 launches in Sweden in four versions, all with front-wheel drive:

  • EV4 FWD (58 kWh):: SEK 476,900 — the entry-level price with shorter range
  • EV4 FWD Long Range (84 kWh):: SEK 541,400 — privatleasing from **SEK 4,995/month**
  • EV4 Plus FWD Long Range (84 kWh):: SEK 573,400 — privatleasing from **SEK 5,495/month**
  • EV4 GT Line FWD Long Range (84 kWh):: SEK 623,400 — privatleasing from **SEK 6,195/month**
  • There is also a fastback variant (more coupé-like profile) priced up to SEK 644,900 in GT Line trim.

    625 km range and 29-minute fast charging

    The big news with the EV4 is the range. With the large 84 kWh battery, Long Range versions achieve up to **625 km according to WLTP** — one of the best figures in the entire C-segment. In real-world winter driving, you can expect 400–480 km depending on temperature and driving style.

    Fast charging is also impressive: **10 to 80 per cent in just 29 minutes** at a sufficiently powerful DC charger. This makes the EV4 a car that handles long-distance trips without painfully long charging stops.

    Elbilsmagasinet's test around Lake Vättern

    Elbilsmagasinet chose to test the Kia EV4 on a practical long-distance route around Lake Vättern — a stretch that provides a good mix of motorway, country road and city driving. The test gives a realistic picture of how the car performs in everyday Swedish driving conditions rather than under laboratory settings.

    The car is described as quiet and comfortable with good suspension that soaks up Swedish roads without issue. The interior is of a high standard with Kia's latest infotainment system and plenty of room in the rear seats. Boot space is acceptable for a fastback, although pure estate cars like the Zeekr 7GT offer more cargo volume.

    How does the EV4 compare to the competition?

    Kia EV4 lands in an interesting price segment where it competes with several established models:

  • Tesla Model 3: — Similar price but sedan body. EV4 offers a more practical fastback shape and Kia's seven-year warranty.
  • Volkswagen ID.3: — Similar size but shorter range (up to 570 km). EV4 has better charging performance.
  • BYD Seal: — Sportier profile and competitive pricing, but EV4 has superior range.
  • Polestar 2: — Starts from SEK 5,495/month in privatleasing, i.e. SEK 500 more than EV4 Long Range. EV4 offers better range and newer technology.
  • Hyundai Ioniq 6: — Sibling car with similar tech but a more extreme aerodynamic design. EV4 is more conventionally styled.
  • Privatleasing — one of the segment's best deals

    With privatleasing from **SEK 4,995/month** for the Long Range version, Kia EV4 offers one of the most competitive packages in the C-segment. You get:

  • 625 km WLTP range
  • 29-minute fast charging (10–80%)
  • Kia's **7-year warranty** — best in the industry
  • Modern interior with the latest tech package
  • For those wanting more equipment, the Plus version is available at SEK 5,495/month and the range-topping GT Line at SEK 6,195/month.

    Should you wait for EV4 or lease something else now?

    Kia EV4 is available to order from Swedish Kia dealers. If you're currently looking for an EV in the SEK 5,000–6,000/month price range and prioritise range and fast charging, the EV4 is hard to beat. It combines Kia's reliability and warranty programme with impressive technology in a practical fastback package.
